What is Real-time Internet Ticketing?
What is Allocated Internet Ticketing?
Box Office Xpress, the world's first Windows ticketing system, started out many years ago as a program that was best suited for small theatres, schools and other types of similar-sized venues. Over the years, it has evolved into an extremely stable, feature-rich program that is widely used by theatres, schools, museums, and the theatrical and athletic departments at colleges and universities.
When it became time to create a more feature rich product that would be more suitable to much larger venues, Box Office Xpress was renamed Box Office Xpress Junior. At the end of 1999, a brand new ticketing system was released that carried the Box Office Xpress name. This new program was re-designed entirely from the ground up.
In 2008, a completely new version of Box Office Xpress was introduced which included Internet ticketing, available in either real-time or allocated versions.Being one of the most established and stable software ticketing companies in
existence, we continue to develop and expand our product line to meet customer
demand.
Box Office Xpress - with real-time Internet ticketing
There is no cost for the software and updates are free. You pay a setup,
training and support fee, plus a per ticket fee. Sales go directly into your
account.
For Internet ticketing, we create a special, private-labeled ticket sales
area within your existing website. The program has an extensive list of
features. More...
Box Office Xpress - with allocated Internet ticketing
Box Office Xpress is also available in a feature-reduced
version for those that just want allocated Internet ticketing. This
version of the program does not have an in-house box office component and, as a
result, is missing related features. But otherwise, the program has all
of the other great features found in the regular Box Office Xpress, including a
private-labeled ticket sales section for your website. You will need a
separate in-house program, such as Box Office Xpress Junior in order to
sell tickets at your box office and to keep track of what tickets you have
allocated for Internet sales. Allocated Internet ticketing is the
least expensive method of Internet ticket sales.

BOX Jr handles all the basic
functionality you would expect from a ticketing system, such as - reserved and
general admission seating ; design your own seating layouts ; setup pricing
schemes and price types ; single ticket, voucher and subscription sales ; events
; track customers ; reports ; mailing labels ; thermal ticket and dot matrix
ticket printing ; and much, much more. The general rule of thumb is that venues doing reserved seating who have
under 1000 seats, generally prefer BOX Jr. Venues with more seats
than that may lean towards the additional features found in Box Office Xpress.
This is not set in stone. And venues with several thousand general admission
seats, such as some University athletics or outdoor venues, are perfectly
content with BOX Jr. BOX Jr is priced with small and non-profit organizations in mind.
Considering it's a high quality, niche market product in an industry where
ticketing systems can easily reach over $100,000, to say this is
the best value out there, would be a huge understatement. BOX Jr does not have Internet ticketing features. You will the
allocated version of Box Office Xpress if you wish to also do
Internet ticketing. Or you may prefer the all-in-one solution of Box Office
Xpress with real-time Internet ticketing. BOX Jr has been rock solid since early 2000, which brings high
confidence to the consumer, knowing they are using an extremely stable software
program.
There are no setup fees or maintenance fees. You receive your ticket sales on
a monthly basis.
Real-time Internet
ticketing allows for box office, and on-line purchases to occur
simultaneously, utilizing the same inventory of seats/tickets (your
entire venue). Customers can select the seats they want from a
seating chart on-line and print their tickets at home. You can also
(optionally) allow the customer to look at images of views to the
stage from the various seating locations. Real-time also allows for
ticket sales by remote box office locations and your own kiosks.
What is Allocated Internet Ticketing?
Allocated Internet ticketing is the process of
allocating a block of seats, or quantity of tickets, that can
only be sold on-line. While these tickets are available on-line,
they cannot be sold at the box office, or any other location. On-line
sales are usually stopped about 24 hours before the event so that the
unsold tickets can then be sold through regular channels, such as the
box office.
This is the least expensive form of Internet ticketing.
